how important are muscles on a guy to girls? honestly...

It depends on how well the girl knows you...but overall it's not that big of a deal. A girl self-consciously is attracted to a guy with more muscles...because that is what is considered attractive. (media has a big influence in that aspect) Based on impression, a girl will accept you more, but you have to have great character, for a girl to put physical features aside (in the process of getting to know you)

I'm not a girl, so I don't know. Here is what I think though:

I think a girl likes guys with muscles more because if they are with them, they can feel protected becuase the guy will just beat up any other guy who hits on "their girl"

hmmmmm, idk. i always look at personality. ive never been muscle crazy, but from listening to many other women, they DO go gaga over a guy with a muscular build, but they usually arent actually WITH guys with bods like that, so it isnt that important. But yeah, it is true that MOST girls don't want to feel like they can actually beat the B.S out of their boyfriends. I on the other hand, am strange & I kinda like that.

Personality is more important, but muscles look nice and and yes..the whole protection thing makes a chick go "gaga" (both are awesome!)

If a girl will judge you by your muscles over your mind then she isn't worth it. Try to find a girl that likes you for who you are and not by what you look like.

I totally agree with April.
I go for personality...Looks and everything else to me is just a bonus.
Like with my current guy, Tom.
He's got a kick ass personality and his looks and body are just a bonus.
If he looked different i'd still like him.

But also girls do to crazy over muscles, but they're NOT everything.
So don't worry about having a '6 pack' or anything. Just be yourself and not someone else.

My boyfriend has muscles but not really the buffed ones. Honestly, I don't like really buffed up muscles which already look like the ones you see on wrestlers. Shaped up and cut are fine but the really big ones are scary and I don't like them.. pale

I hate muscles with a passion.
Like, the really big ones on wrestlers that have muscles on their vains.
Shit like that is gross.

But I like guys who have a little big of muscles, just not alot that they can hurt me with but muscles that they are strong enough to hurt people like muggers.

But the really grossly skinny scene/emo kids are gross too.

I guess I am kinda picky.

Hahahahaha, If they're masculine enough to throw down a mugger, they can definitely, potentially hurt you also. But the type of guy who won't look weak in a tank top and also the type of guy that doesn't look like he's about to tear the tank top...and I would consider that average (not so much picky)
